Moderna will be artistically and architecturally in harmony with The Miller House. Moderna will feature sustainable homes designed and constructed by the "best and brightest" architects and design professionals in Kentucky. All architectural design plans must be approved by the Foundation's Design Review and Construction Committee prior to any sale or construction. The Foundation for Advanced Architecture will serve as the guiding sponsor for each home in Moderna. This will ensure that the community will truly have an ongoing architectural and artistic dialogue with The Miller House, and it will ensure that the community as a whole represents a commitment to advanced architecture.
Each home shall be required to be certified Green in terms of building components and certain systems by The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System, which has been developed by the U.S. Green Building Council. Green building methods will include: solar electricity, geothermal heating and cooling, non toxic insulation, insulated low 'E' glass in all doors and windows, wood products from certified forest sources, "energy star" appliances, permeable turf block driveway pavers, sun shading with building overhangs, select recycle materials, rain water collection irrigation and various building envelope techniques for overall energy performance.
