The Moderna community is America's first architecturally designed, LEED-certifiable residential development. The community is small by design, featuring 43 home sites. The centerpiece for Moderna is the Miller Museum. The museum, owned by the Foundation for Advanced Architecture, is an architectural masterpiece designed by Jose Oubrerie who was an assistant to the legendary French architect, Le Corbusier. The homes in Moderna will be arranged around the Miller Museum and the residents will have special museum access for events, parties and receptions.
THE MODERNA PHILOSOPHY
The Foundation endeavors to cultivate a socially responsible residential community. All homes in Moderna are required to be architecturally significant and sustainable in design and construction. Making use of the best 'green' building methods within the scope of imaginative architecture, Moderna will harmonize art, architecture and the environment.
THE MODERNA HOMES
Moderna homes will include solar electricity, geo-thermal HVAC, reclaimed materials and native plantings. The community will attract the socially responsible buyer who desires to live in a highly-designed poetic space. The Foundation will provide a collaborative of distinguished architects and 'green' construction managers with whom the owner may create their own masterpiece home. The home sites are owned by the Foundation, and the proceeds and profit from the sale of these sites will be used to fund the Museum's operation and provide for its upkeep.
THE MODERNA ARCHITECTS COLLABORATIVE
The Miller Museum and The Foundation for Advanced Architecture have assembled (8) distinguished architecture studios to provide the design for each of the Moderna homes. Each homeowner will have the benefit of 175 years of collective experience in designing beautiful and functional residential space. After the initial programming stage of each house design, one architect will be assigned by the Collaborative to work one-on-one with the homeowner to achieve the overall image of the house that is appropriate to the buyer's wishes. Then the Collaborative will remain involved to assist in the best use of the latest sustainable materials and techniques. Buyers may also bring their own architect who, once approved by the Collaborative, can work with the group to bring about the most successful result.
